Jasper Jones – Craig Silvey

“An Australian To Kill A Mockingbird”  The Monthly

Hungry for another book, this book was recommended to me by a friend.  It is a modern take of what it takes to belong.

Silvey’s Jasper Jones tells the story of a boy who doesn’t belong, whose reputation has been marred since his birth in this sleepy Australian town.  He is forced to live in an opening in the bush, which only he knows about.  At least that’s what he thinks until he finds a dead body there.  Not only that.  It was a dead body of a prominent schoolgirl.

This riveting story took me to a whole new level.  Fantastic story.  Incredible Read. Thank you Craig Silvey for such a wonderful Australian novel.
