…When all through the house…everyone was reading…including the mouse…The Reading Hour

There was a night
When all through the house
Everyone was reading
Including the mouse…

The Reading Hour by theopinionchair

There was a night
When all through the house
Everyone was reading
Including the mouse.

Because Reading Hour
Had finally come
Horrified by ghost stories
Mystified by fantasies
They listened through their earpieces,
As words became pictures
And pictures became worlds
Nonsensical
Real and Stunned.

For sixty whole minutes
A new world unfolded
Stories of chinkets
Stolen and melted.
Diaries of children
Whose daylight was filtered.
And the late night train
Where blood was discovered
Smeared on the underside
Of the seat left vacant.

At the end of the hour
Their stories weren’t finished.
Like a window winding up
The sixty minutes had diminished.
The Reading Hour had ended,
They thought and talked and thought.
