Today is National Bookshop Day!

Yes, it’s that time of year again.  A happy time of year.

Notwithstanding all the election chaos, National Bookshop Day is still going ahead as planned today, Saturday 10th August 2013.  Organised by the Australian Booksellers Association, National Bookshop Day celebrates bookstores and the people who run them.

Bookstores are important because they promote the literary careers of many Australian authors, and also for promoting freedom of thought and communication.

A list of National Bookshop Day events can be found here: http://www.aba.org.au/events

Notable events include the winner of the search for Australia’s Favourite Bookshop and author signings and freebies at many bookstores around Australia.
